Hi Laurel thank you! I just use low cost apps that are still nice (I have limited finances) & keep building/erasing etc until I'm satisfied or do something interesting, similar to how I worked on canvas. They are Ibis Paint X & in Picsart I use the simple drawing tools. When I first started to work on the screen, it surprised me how enjoyable it is & how it reminds me of working on canvas in certain ways. In my opinion both canvas & digital have some different advantages & disadvantages.
